Life in a Day Project

5 Feb

For today’s class you will begin editing your own “Life in a Day” footage. You will need to import your footage from your camera and then put it in iMovie. Just as a reminder, iMovie is only compatible with .MP4 and .MOV file extensions. If your file is not compatible with iMovie, you will need to convert the footage using Zamzar. You will be expected to work with a partner to edit your “Life in a Day” footage, but each person will submit their own video. You should be prepared to present your film for feedback on Friday, 2/3.

Sample “Life in a Day” Films:

Your final “Life in a Day” film will be graded on the following areas:

Your film has a clear message and idea of the person you have filmed. Your shots are logical and tell a story about your subject.

The film contains interviews and other footage that shows, rather than tells, what is means to be “16.”

Film Shots:
A variety of film shots and sequence shots are utilized and included in the film. Types of film shots include: over the shoulder, establishing shot, close-up, long shot, high angle shot, point of view, etc.

All footage is edited in iMovie, film includes transitions between clips, titles are included and relate to the footage, and music is used to create an appropriate tone and establish mood within your final film.
